Aligning Investment with Europe’s Climate Ambitions
The Belgian Green Building Council (BGBC) was pleased to contribute to the very first Low-Carbon Investor Exchange, hosted this morning at Wood Hub. This inaugural event—powered by pulse by cfe, BPI Real Estate, Expertisenews.be, and BGBC—brought together investors, experts, and market leaders to explore how the low-carbon transition is reshaping real estate investment in Belgium.
The morning provided a valuable platform for dialogue on the evolving regulatory and market landscape, with a shared focus on translating climate ambition into concrete, investment-ready strategies.
Key highlights included:
- The exclusive first presentation of the Belgian Low-Carbon Investor Barometer, offering a snapshot of how investors are positioning their portfolios for the transition.
- A dedicated contribution from BGBC, with Gilles Vanvolsem, Managing Director of BGBC, delivering a deep dive into the latest EU regulatory developments, including the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) requirements, and their implications for real estate investment.
- A practical introduction to EU ETS2, helping investors better understand its expected impact on the built environment.
BGBC warmly thanks all speakers for their clarity and expertise:
- Martijn Reviers, Expertisenews.be
- Gilles Vanvolsem, Belgian Green Building Council
- Sarah O’Brien and Florian Malavieille, European Commission – DG CLIMA
The full Low-Carbon Investor Barometer will be released on 4 December via Expertisenews.be and the pulse by cfe blog.
We also extend our thanks to CFE and BPI Real Estate for their collaboration and support in making this first edition a success.
