This morning, we had the pleasure of participating in the colloquium organized by the Belgian Financial Forum and Impact Finance Belgium, held at the National Bank of Belgium.
The discussions echoed many of the challenges faced by our BGBC members:
- The complexity of complying with the EU Taxonomy, often perceived as overly focused on reporting rather than enabling action.
- A system where the European Commission regulates the regulators, leaving companies navigating a fragmented landscape.
- A timely reminder of the EU Green Bond Regulation
We were proud to see our member Philippe Wallez from ING Belgium sharing his insights during the panel discussions — always a pleasure to see our community at the forefront of the dialogue.
One striking message from the Climate Bonds Initiative: the appetite for green investments is strong, but there aren’t enough qualifying projects. A clear signal that green building investments have a critical role to play in filling that gap.
A big thank you to Impact Finance Belgium for the kind invitation and flawless organization.
Let’s keep building bridges between finance and sustainable real estate!
