Yesterday, we had the pleasure of visiting a remarkable building by one of our members, Alides.
Together with our member Embuild - The Belgian Construction Association, we explored the many innovations deployed by the developer—alongside architects and contractors—to preserve as much of the existing structure as possible. From façade-mounted technical installations and ceiling-level sprinklers to underground geothermal systems and site logistics in a highly constrained urban environment, the project is a masterclass in pushing the boundaries of circular renovation.
Alides sets an inspiring example of what integrated teamwork can achieve. A project worthy of recognition—and of replication.
We often underestimate how complex it is to apply circular economy principles in dense urban settings. But this project proves it’s possible—with collaboration, ambition, and shared commitment across the full value chain.
